Beginning as a seasonal food truck in 2009, Big Gay Ice Cream has been named best ice cream parlor — as well as best food truck — in the country, along with numerous other accolades. Now the company has multiple locations in New York City & Philadelphia.

Big Gay Ice Cream was substantially impacted by COVID-19, with brick-and-mortar locations needing to be closed for a substantial period of time. In order to pivot, they were looking to roll out a line of chocolate bars relating to their existing ice cream flavors.

The client wanted the packaging to balance a sense of fun and freshness — colorful while showing the flavors and ingredients. I worked to push the envelope and not just use the existing branding, but to build upon it and evolve the style for a completely new format.

These package designs were presented to the client as concept art.
