The Javits Center is more than just a convention center — this self-sustaining New York icon has become a wildlife sanctuary, a community partner, and a nationwide nexus where the latest ideas in business and pop culture converge under one very green roof.

The goal of Javits’ communications varied with current events. Pre-2020, their expansion project was at the forefront of all campaigns across all media platforms. It was a massive undertaking that would reinvent the classic New York icon. When COVID-19 hit, their focus shifted greatly. With in-person events becoming non-existent, the Javits Center didn’t just wait around for the pandemic to fade away — they converted their space into a huge vaccination center, offering vaccines to over half a million New Yorkers.

Now that COVID-19 has gotten under control, Javits has transitioned into a beacon of hope and positivity for New York and the event space overall. With their expansion completed and hosting bigger and better events, the Javits Center is in a new era.

Having collaborated with the Javits communications team for over 4 years — growing from Junior Designer to Lead Designer — I had a hand in almost all facets of their brand. From creating brand campaigns, annual reports, and social media content, to developing internal messaging, B-to-B tools, and more.

Vaccination Center Signage

When the Javits Center was turned from COVID hospital to Vaccination Center, I was tasked with developing their signage. Used extensively inside and out of the Center, these signs assisted guests with instructions, vaccination information, and positive messages.

Vaccination Center signage was translated into 6 different languages — Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Bengali, and Haitian Creole — so that more visitors would be able to read the information provided.
